Join Master Yoga therapist Gary Kraftsow in an exploration of the multiple dimensions of yoga including how its proper application can help reduce symptoms of suffering and improve one's daily life.
In this session, you'll learn the difference between a yoga class and a yoga therapy session. Kraftsow will also speak about the potential for yoga as a beneficial practice within the healthcare system. Kraftsow is interested in helping students work toward achieving their highest potential.
Free and open to the public. Registration is recommended.
BIO
Gary Kraftsow has been a pioneer in the transmission of yoga for health, healing, and personal transformation for over 40 years. He began his study of yoga in India with T.K.V. Desikachar and T. Krishnamacharya and received a Viniyoga Special Diploma from Viniyoga International in Paris, France in 1988.
Kraftsow has successfully developed the protocol for two National Institutes of Health studies: “Evaluating Yoga for Chronic Low Back Pain” and “Yoga Therapy for Generalized Anxiety.” He also devloped the clinical trial, “Mind-Body Stress Reduction in the Workplace,” for the Aetna Insurance Company.
Kraftsow is the director and senior teacher of the American Viniyoga Institute™ (AVI), the author of two books published by Penguin, Yoga for Wellness and Yoga for Transformation; and he is the author of four educational DVDs: Viniyoga Therapy for Low Back, Sacrum, and Hips; Viniyoga Therapy for Upper Back, Neck, and Shoulders; Viniyoga Therapy for Depression; and Viniyoga Therapy for Anxiety. He has also produced several online workshops.
