Please join us for Karolyn Kinane, PhD's talk, Critical, Creative, Contemplative: Inquiry and Pedagogy in Service of Student Flourishing.
While faculty often appreciate the importance of critical thinking and creative expression, we may ignore the contemplative processes that precede and strengthen such acts.
While faculty often appreciate the importance of critical thinking and creative expression, we may ignore the contemplative processes that precede and strengthen such acts.
Contemplative inquiry and pedagogy highlight moment to moment awareness, privilege process, encourage reflection upon values and actions, feature first person critical ways of knowing, and use meditative techniques to bring curiosity, care, and generosity to the fore.
This session will introduce the theory and practices of both contemplative inquiry and pedagogy, offering specific examples of how these approaches can transform research, scholarship, and teaching in any discipline.
Free and open to the public.
Lunch provided.
