According to Britt Wray, climate anxiety researcher at Stanford University, young people can navigate fears about climate change and become stewards of the planet in their own unique ways.
UVA's Environmental Institute and the Contemplative Sciences Center present a resource fair, sponsored by UVA’s Office for Sustainability, convening UVA organizations and off-Grounds groups that can help students navigate eco-anxiety while offering concrete ways to impact climate change.
The event will feature companies offering “green” jobs as well as organizations providing mental health and well-being support. University partners include: the Decarbonization Corps program, UVA Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), UVA’s Career Center, UVA’s Women’s Center, Madison House, Outdoor Recreation, Public Service Pathways and more. Outside organizations include: Green Fin Studios, Generation180, Appalachian Voices and more.
- This event immediately follows a presentation to help with your climate journey by Stanford researcher and author Britt Wray at 12:30 pm, "From Fear to Action: Thriving in a Changing Climate." You may attend one or any of the related events.
- The Contemplative Sciences Center is also hosting a related contemplative Nature Walk: Embodied Practice for Eco-Anxiety with Geoff Cox at 3:00-3:45pm at The Dell.
Registration not required for any of these events. Feel free to join all or any of the events.
