Donald Rothberg: Contemplation, Service, and Activism—Connecting Inner and Outer Transformation

There is a growing urgency in the world around such issues as climate disruption, racism, and social and political polarization. Rothberg, a leading teacher and writer on meditation, the intersection of psychology and spirituality, and socially engaged spiritual practice, will discuss how developing such qualities as mindfulness, kindness, compassion, and equanimity through contemplative practice can add value to our everyday lives and help us respond to the great challenges of our time through civic service and engagement.

Rothberg is a leading teacher and writer on meditation, the intersection of psychology and spirituality, and socially engaged spiritual practice. He has taught and practiced Buddhist meditation for over 35 years, and his teaching and trainings have helped to pioneer new ways of connecting inner and outer transformation. Rothberg is on the Teachers' Council of Spirit Rock and has been an organizer, teacher, and board member for the Buddhist Peace Fellowship. He has also served as director of the Socially Engaged Spirituality program at the Saybrook Graduate School in San Francisco and is the author of The Engaged Spiritual Life: A Buddhist Approach to Transforming Ourselves and the World.
