Join a Deep Listening Sonic Meditation workshop presented by the Music Departmant and the Contemplative Sciences Center
Tomie Hahn will introduce several playful centering activities. She will include a Deep Listening Sonic Meditation created by composer Pauline Oliveros (founder of Deep Listening). No previous experience necessary, just come and participate or observe.
Tomie Hahn is an artist and ethnomusicologist. and performer of shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute), nihon buyo (Japanese traditional dance), and experimental performance. Her book, Sensational Knowledge : Embodying Culture through Japanese Dance was awarded the Asian P. Merriam prize (Society for Ethnomusicology). She is an Associate Professor in the Arts Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she is also the Director of the Center for Deep Listening.
